Day 189: 5 Minute Freewrite: Thursday - Prompt: cane
Cane is a stick either made of wood, plastic or stainless steel to assist a person to walk. Some person use it as a defense weapon when some will attack them. But likely, it is used by old people who are not able to walk properly. It supports them to stand properly and balance their body as they are taking the steps.
My father is 85 year old already. No longer physically fit and can't walk properly. So, my sister bought him a cane to assist him from walking even inside the house. He did try it but unfortunately, he prefer to walk without the cane. He just walk slowly, holding the wall and chairs everytime he go to the kitchen or living room to watch tv. He said, he does't like to use cane coz he might get too dependent to it. He just walk on his own, moving like nothing happens to him. He did live life as normal as possible even if he is not fully physically fit.

Kudos to your father for wanting to make it on his own for as long as he is able. My grandfather felt the same and refused to use his cane for the same reason.
