5-minute Freewrite: Prompt - Feeling the love

"Wow, that is one heck of a bling, woman! That love is big!"

Brittany beamed with the biggest smile, the girls were all gathered by her desk admiring the sapphire diamond ring that sparkled fiercely on her finger. It was quite a stir, news swept across the fraternity like the whirlwind within that day.

It was the final year in their University life, soon they will graduate and move on with their lives. There's been a lot of discussions on graduation trips, job hunting, what car to buy and which state to move to.

Brittany, well, she was all set in getting married to the supposedly most eligible bachelor in the University. It was pretty much a dream come true, since she hadn't given much thought of what she'd like to do after she graduated.

Nobody would have guessed, but deep within she felt like she could finally breathe. For once, she could relax and not be so uptight and competitive all the time. For once, she felt like her whole life was secure and she didn't need to be number one all the time.

The pressures of being the top student in her fraternity.

I'm not escaping, I just want some time to enjoy and figure life out.

Dom who studied law was also one of the top among his peers. Wealthy background, good looks and strong network were enough to get the girls talking whenever he graced the hallways. He was really good with the ladies. Too good, in fact that you'd see girls trying their very best to please him and seduce him in any way imaginable.

But oh, he has had his eyes on Brittany the moment he first saw her at the school entrance. She was bright as the sun, very happy and pleasant, and she had very nice hair. She had her rugged jeans and t-shirt on, and behind those funky glasses she had eyes that twinkled like little stars. She was smart, kind and caring, too.

Dom knew she would not be an easy target, and though he gets all the admiration and praises from peers and the opposite sexes, he knew Brittany was different. She was genuine.

"Look at Cinderella, looks like she got her wish!" said a jealous classmate with a smirk.

"I wonder what she did to get him under her skirt, I obviously look prettier than her!" another classmate chipped in loudly just so Brittany could hear her.

"That ring should be on my finger, not hers!" lamenting as she rolled her eyes at her.

"Well, for one, she didn't get me under her skirt. Secondly, you need a mouth wash. Thirdly, this ring is too big for you. Your skinny fingers won't cut it." said a voice from behind.

It was Dom.

The class went silent as he approached his fiancee and took her by the hand. Brittany bid goodbye to her classmates as they exited the hall.

"You don't have to do that, you know... They were just kidding."

"I know, so was I..." he kissed her hand and let out a big goofy laugh.

"I can't always be by your side, but when I do, I wanna make sure that I am present with you. You've promised your life to me, and that's what I'm gonna do for you, too. C'mon, I'm starving! Let's grab some pizza and sushi, my treat!"

"Hah, you silly big boy! Fine, ice cream's on me!"

"Yay!" he landed a peck on her cheek.

She knew ice cream was his love language. She also knew he would fill in the bigger shoes and still be satisfied and happy having her making him happy with the simplest things.

Ice cream.

Definitely feeling the love.
