I read through the comments between you two and others opinions mixed in as well. I must admit troglodactyl had a semi valid reason for what he did, it was still wrong of him to do it. As you said, the free sbd was meant to help the little guys and new comers. We live in a monetarily driven society. If you want to attract all people give them money. That was the original intent of steemit. For those that like to just browse and comment, instead of creating new content, your free sbd is a great way to keep those people coming back. Hell, I'm one of them.

There are several problems with your position. First, this distribution method directly incentivizes both creating spam and upvoting spam, undermining Steem as a network to create and curate content people actually want to see. Second, it doesn't even distribute rewards effectively to people like you. Mostly it just funnels rewards to people like @fogel. If you like to browse and comment as you say, you'd get a larger payout using your voting power to upvote your comments than you do using it to upvote these schemes. Half of the rewards are paid as SP, which go to the poster instead of to you when you upvote schemes like this.
