Freelensing tehnique - "Poor man's tilt shift"

If you're into photography and want to do something creative while also torture yourself a little bit, you need to know a something more about freelensing and magic that comes with it.

People call it “poor man's tilt shift.”

It's a big money saver if you don't want to buy tilt-shift lens for portraits, weddings etc. The effect you get is just magical!

Helios is a vintage lens, costs around 50-60 $, while tilt-shift lens, for example Canon TS-E 45mm f/2.8 cost around 1400 $.

Don't get me wrong, there is a big difference between these two. Using Helios while freelensing is a pain in the ass. I have also used Sigma 50mm f/1.4 while freelensing but it's harder to focus.

If you want this lens (Helios) to be attached to your DSLR, you're going to need a mount called M42. You can buy it on E-bay, it's very cheap (2-3 $).

IMPORTANT: Be careful while freelensing! You camera is exposed to dust so avoid doing outdoor sessions while the wind is strong!

Last year I bought myself Canon TS-E 45mm f/2.8 lens for my wedding photography business and it was life changing. It really takes time to figurate it out about how to use it properly but now I am in love with it.
