[THOUGHTS] Short survey of human freedom in different countries [TRENDS]
Thought today of using a little of google trends. To make a small review of blockings "market" and re-check the data that we have from "Reports Without Borders" a bit.
To my surprise, it didn't work with the OR operator well (I've tried like "china (bans | prohibits)" - and it doesent work, so I had to stuck with one request test.
The first test compares 4 leaders (IMO) of blockings, human rights violations, mass-media manipulators and best-of-the-class ignorants of constitution:
China, Russia, USA & India.
You can see the search requests count, which sometimes correlate with search results:
Russia bans | China bans | USA bans | India bans |
---|---|---|---|
8 490 000 | 26 700 000 | 29 000 000 | 25 100 000 |
Of course, this statistics as not as cool as RWB (Reporters Without Borders) one, because it's not removing people which are not in the use of the internet, and might have some errors. But let's have a look on the other side.
The leaders of the freedom world - with nearly free mass media (at most!), it's countries with strong protection of human rights & constitution, which also doesen't have internet blockade (in most cases, I mean - the exceptions are always there).
Norway, Finland, Denmark & Sweden.
The only trouble we can see on this image is Denmark, which definetly returns some results. Let's test the search results now:
Norway bans | Finland bans | Denmark bans | Sweden bans |
---|---|---|---|
669 000 | 559 000 | 80 100 000 (hic!) | 708 000 |
That's wierd that Denmark has 80 millions results - nearly as many as China + USA + India articles. Either it's because bad conditions there, or great mass media reviews on all occations. Or, maybe both.

That post, I hope, will make you think a little bit about "in which world we exist", and "in which world we belong" (or would like to belong).
