Low self confidence is evident when a person speaks about the future in terms of random occurrences anyway. As they make that statement you can see them picturing the worst case scenario and describing that rather than creating the reality they want. If it was the latter, they would only either be describing the vision to you or asking questions to actively destroy any fears they may have.
