No matter how you slice it, the speech of the vaccine hesitant is more defensible than the anti-GMO speech.

The reality is that most of the people calling for censorship of "misinformation" in regard to Covid vaccines are going down a road that they don't want to follow.

If you're really going to argue that "misinformation" about science is responsible for human death and misery, most people have much more blood on their hands than Joe Rogan.

Where are the calls to censor Greenpeace? Their anti-GMO speech, by most of y'all's rhetoric, has been responsible for about forty million dead kids in the last twenty years. Greenpeace was directly responsible for sending correspondence to the leadership in Zambia to convince them that relief being sent to them during a famine was poison and that resulted in the death of 10,000 people.

I don't personally buy the argument from the vaccine hesitant that the vaccine came out too quickly; but, I certainly understand the concern. Anybody who says that he or she is worried about the safety of GMOs at this point is a moron or lying; most of them are lying. People started development on golden rice more than thirty years ago. We know that it's safe and that it works.

So, why isn't there an outcry about scientific misinformation which has been holding back a technology that could save about 2.5 million kids under the age of five per year? Well, just like getting vaccinated is the middle class, white person's opportunity to virtue signal, so is eating organic. The anti-science campaign against GMOs is powerful enough that just about every company that produces food in any way is advertising that the food in non-GMO and millions of people have been spending 25% more on groceries to buy organic because they bought the bullshit.

To be clear, you can believe what you want and buy what you want. Where you cross the line is calling for regulations, bans, and mandates.

Still, just like your virtue signalling isn't worth human life, your virtue signalling isn't worth abridgment of the values of a free society. I think that we should all acknowledge that the calls for censorship are all lacking in principle and brimming with narcissism.
