THE NIGERIA OF MY DREAM [ ARISE AND SHINE ]

Nigeria is undoubtedly the most populous black nation in the world. She is a country blessed with innumerable natural and mineral resources. A land where milk and honey flows like a river. Nature has really endowed my dear country with invaluable treasures which can be found nowhere in the world.
In addition, our soils are fertile for farming.

The climate of my country is conducive for plants and animals to survive therein. Nigeria is filled with beautiful landscapes, vast plains, serene atmosphere, mountainous hills and magnificent rocks. Our weather condition is perhaps the greatest endowment from God. While some countries struggle with extreme weather conditions, my country enjoys the best weather condition relative to most countries of the world. In the same vein, natural disasters are almost non-existent in Nigeria. Our country is free from the trials of tornado, tsunami, hurricanes, landslide, volcanic eruption and other random events which has threatened most part of the world.

One would have thought that; with these uncommon natural blessings, Nigeria is the centre of tourist attraction where the whole world struggle to go. One would have thought that Nigeria is the biggest commercial hub in the world. One would have thought that Nigerians enjoy the best of life.

Nay! Instead, the Nigeria of today is ravaged with poverty, pestilence, endemic corruption, unemployment, insecurity, enmity, rancour, intolerance, social crises, political instability, insurgency, moral decadency, favouritsm, civil wars and so many other evils too numerous to mention.

The citizens no longer care about one another again. Nigerians are sharply divided along religious and ethnic lines. All thanks to bad leadership which has plundered the country into the abyss of under-development and dependency.

The independence we got in 1960 has lost its symbolic meaning. The country now rely heavily on other economies for goods and services which we already have in abundance. Nigerians are scattered all over the world because they couldn't bare to live in an impoverished country. Unfortunately, their search for greener pastures has led to their bitter exposure to slavery, xenophobic attacks, racial discrimination and other international woes.

The country has now become the laughing stock among other countries of the world.

A country once known as the giant of Africa now experience economic meltdown, misfortunes and religious extremism.

Human lives are being wasted on a daily basis like the slaughter of cows in the abattoir. The prevalence of thuggery, hooliganism, kidnapping and others is unprecedented in our history as a people and as a nation.

The future does not look so bright with the crop of youths in the country. Those who shall be the leaders of tomorrow are currently busy with frivolities and nothingness. Most young lads are into cyber fraud and money laundering while their female counterparts are into prostitution and scam.

Indeed, this is definitely not the Nigeria of my dreams. The Nigeria of my dreams is a country full of love, peace, bliss and tranquility.

The Nigeria of my dreams is one where there is unity in diversity. It is a country where the citizens see themselves as Nigerians first before their ethnic or religious inclinations. It is a Nigeria where we live together in peace and harmony, with love and tolerance. It is a Nigeria where the interest of the country override the selfish interest of individuals.

The Nigeria of my dreams is a country where we harness the potentialities of the compatriots. A country which is self-reliant through the development of local technologies and indigenous inventions.

The Nigeria of my dreams is truly a giant of Africa and a force to reckon with in the world. It is a nation where Nigerians are welcomed, respected and venerated anywhere they dwell in the world. It is a Nigeria where people from all over the world assemble to appreciate her endowments and God-given treasures.

In spite of the current state of the country, I firmly believe that the Nigeria of my dreams will surely come to pass, although It may take decades to build such foundation. After all, Rome wasn't built in a day.

The Nigeria of my dreams is attainable. Let's join hands together to achieve the Nigeria we truly desire for ourselves. ( NIGERIA @59 )
