I never really knew about the existence of Liberland. It was my immediate elder brother who called to inform me about the little country. He said to me
I would like you to apply for a teaching position in their university.
On hearing that, I became interested and began to do my own search about Liberland. During the period of my search, I realised that Liberland is a free land situated in between Serbia and Croatia. I live in Serbia at the moment, by the way. From my search, I found out that for one to be able to get citizenship in Liberland, he would need to have accumulated 10,000 MERITS. Merits is currency of Liberland. One (1) Merit is equal to 1 US dollar, I think. The registration has been done, but honestly, I do not have $10,000 to pay for citizenship now. What are your thoughts on $10,000 Liberland citizenship?
There are a lot of things and angles to consider. Not everyone has $10k laying around.
There is also no permanent housing there and without a site visit to let me put my real estate and land use / planning skills to use --- people are largely paying for a passport and title to another country as such for their person.
No housing or ability to house many people ON the land.
They are using large boats for the time being, on the river/water there -- to house people at least temporarily.
I wish Vit would allow me to consult with them on the land use/planning with my experience.
