40 years and homeless and jobless, start of a new journey.

A couple of weeks ago we received our New Zealand resident visas. This means much more freedom, because with a work visa you must have a job.

I had a very nice job the last 19 months and also my employer was very kind and a good guy.

But I got a really strong drive inside myself, I want freedom, my own piece of land. I want to choose when I work for money and for who. Last Friday was my last working day.

To be honest I was not brave enough to quit my job the last years. This is the first time since my 14th that I am jobless. It is also easy for me to find a job because I am an electrician and also truckdriver. I like these occupations, but not 40 hours a week the whole year arround.

Now it is the challenge to find a cheap section to build a house without a mortgage. Here in New Zealand this is mission impossible in the cities but somewere rural it is possible.

Last Saturday we started our journey to Wellington to take the ferry to the South Island. When you live in a caravan with your family it is easy to start a journey like this. Beside that New Zealand is the perfect country to do those things and we are surtainly not the only family with this lifestyle. We use solar for power, we pay $6 per night on NZMCA campsites or $10-$14 per night on private properties with power and showers. You can fill your watertanks everywere, you can dump your toilet cassette and waste water everywere. You meet kind and nice people everywere and they give you a lot of useful information.

Don't know what the future brings, but this week I feel free like a bird and we have had a lot of fun with the whole family.

Good on yer mate - it's awesome down south - the colder you go the cheaper it gets!

This is a photo I took in Dunedin

Wow that looks really beautiful!

Tomorrow we go to Timaru and Oamaru, we definitely go to Dunedin!

The weather is nice and warm at this moment.

Dude scary!!

I know ho you feel in this one being jobless and homeless but my direction is going to Switzerland haha

enjoy your stay there man!

Thanks! Switzerland is beautiful and got alps too.

I think it could be quit similar mountain wise to your area maybe :)

From Switzerland it is easier to visit The Netherlands 😁

For sure compared to the tiny island in the caribbean where I was living until last week hahaha!

What an adventure!

How do your kids learn?
Do you teach them yourself?

Depends were we end, if we are close to a city or village they go to school.

Love NZ! Great scenery and trip.
That bird I think is a Weka ... just like you 'free as a bird' ...

You are right, that bird is a Weka. Almost free, I had to pay for the crossover. Same problem as the Weka, can't fly 😁
