Why So Complicated?

in #freedom6 years ago

Taxation is a massive and complex undertaking for any government. Stealing from almost everyone in a country is no easy task, but governments have a way of making it look even more difficult and complicated than it really is. This is not due to the challenge of the task, or by accident, or the result of ineptitude. Governments intentionally create complex tax systems to favor special interests and make it difficult to challenge tax collectors.

A complicated tax code (along with a complicated legal system) allows for arbitrary enforcement. If a government agent wants to go after an individual, it is easy to show how they have not been in perfect compliance with the tax code, because perfect compliance is nearly impossible. As long as society accepts that taxation is not theft, you could be jailed at any time.

If you have the money or means to challenge the tax collectors in a government court, it can be very expensive, and you might end up with more money if you just give in. However, if you choose to fight some particular theft against yourself, you might lose and have to pay legal fees as well as whatever taxes (plus interest) the government wants to impose. Resisting government theft by turning to governments might seem silly, but the only alternative is to conduct our business so they can’t see it.

Freedom is the fundamental right, also it is human right

Designed to be complex and they don't teach it to us. They play on our ignorance and get away with it.

I discovered today that the super rich use 'trusts' as a legal way to not pay tax. Their money is put in a 'trust' which is not liable for tax and they have full control over the money and how it is spent, but don't own the money.

Unreal how deep the rabbit hole goes! This is UK taxation / law so it might not be the same in USA, but I'm pretty sure you will have similar loopholes that are being used, along with the creating a charity to fund activities, and getting people to pay into for you!!

Yes, the same nonsense goes on here. We have this thing called CAFRA too. At the county level, where things are supposed to be local and transparent, there is the "slush fund" that no one ever accounts for. The annual budgets show all these expenses and such, but all the revenue they generate, and it is a lot, never appears in the budget. They rake it in and POOF! It disappears. Coincidentally, for those coincidence theorists out there, many relatively low paid county employees have paid off VERY nice homes... and boats, and ATVs, and horses, and... whatever their little heart desires.

It's sickening what goes on.
These 'trusts' though are for rich people / corporations, so many of those earning mega bucks are most likely putting it in a trust and not paying any tax on it.
Definitely is a case of the poor and hard working paying the taxes for governments to waste it on weapons, war and all that the majority of kind, caring citizens don't want!

Indeed. The most immoral thing I do is pay taxes. I know they are used to buy war... and I go ahead and fund war rather than go to prison as a tax dodger. I am far from unique in that, but not very many people see it the way I do. They feel like "good citizens" when they "pay their share." I feel like a coward and a murderer...

I hear what you're saying and agree, but how much good can we achieve by going to prison for not paying tax, and how much more good can we do by being free. It is the system that is at fault not us, so the more we work to be free of the system through crypto and sharing awareness with others the better.
As you say, most people don't see this, they believe the lies that authority is there for us, but the tide is turning on that and sharing knowledge is not being a coward, it's actually quite hard to do.

I do not mean to come off like I live in angst over paying taxes, I have made my peace with the decision to not go to prison... lol! I DO try to teach people about non-aggression, and how taxation is theft... thanks for the encouragement!

I glad you've made you're peace with this. You comment that you "feel like a coward and a murderer..." was concerning!
We can do more good being Free Spirits in the world than locked behind bars! :)

When I have to pay taxes, rather than feeling like "Good Citizen" I feel like murderous coward... I know that the blood is not actually on my hands. Thanks for your kindness and concern!

Could the government fund itself without taxation ?
Yes, it could, asthe U.S. government issues its own currency and can fund anything it wants— but it probably shouldn’t. Too much spending can lead to inflation which is a kind of tax anyway.
