I get most of mine from Pixabay as I simply tend to forget about all the others. I have used Pexels too. In the early days I grabbed images from any old place but we as we both know, that's frowned upon.
Google Images is actually also really handy to find these sorts of images. You can filter them by license :)
Yeah I might have done that too in the past, though not on Steemit. Everybody makes mistakes when they're just starting out.
