in #framedcontest6 years ago

This week, the theme of weekly photo contest organized by @claudiaz is 'Framed'.
More about this inspiring contest can be found here.
This is my entry...

I took this photo while on holiday in Victoria, Australia. It was in the small coastal town of Port Welshpool and the jetty was as stunning on top as it was underneath. As for the framed theme, I see two interpretations in this photo. The first is obviously the frame holding the jetty up and secondly the way the support frames continue to frame the next layer of the image.

It begs you to keep looking...I love it!

Thank you, yes it does... You just want to keep looking as far as you can see. : )

It's the perfect illusion. It doesn't even seem real. Like where does it start and where does it end?

That's a perfect word... illusion, I like that!

It is a really long Jetty and there's a lot of history behind this one. The Welshpool Jetty railway opened in 1905 and was operated as a horse-drawn tramway, connecting Welshpool station to Port Welshpool. It had a total length of just under 5 kilometres and ran to the fishing jetty. That line closed in 1941. The jetty was reconstructed prior to World War II for the berthing of naval vessels and is the third-longest wooden jetty still standing in Australia. It was then reverted back to commercial uses after the war. A fire occurred on the pier (furtherst end) in 2003 which resulted in it been closed. There is a local campaign to re-furbish and re-open the jetty for tourism now which would be great to see!

thanks for the entry, nice photo
