Fractal Art... ehm, rather, Fractal Scribbles
In the past I have played with fractals, making my own formulas and seeing how imaginary numbers that do not exist produce visual artifacts. My old Pentium PC was left burning for long nights to render a simple 1024x768 image, which might turn out to be crappy in the end.
Now, 15+ years later, I decided to catch up -- and I was amazed to see the current state of fractal art. Applications like Mandelbulber and JWildFire give total control to the user to delve deep into the fractal entities and discover unique formations. There are some incredible fractal art galleries to browse over the internet.
Earlier today, inspired by @woodywood143, I installed JWildFire, and.. fired it up. My first creations cannot be characterized as "art", it feels more like the scribbles of a toddler that holds a pencil for the first time. But, anyway, here they are, with a twist in the end!
Fetuses Matrix
(made with JWildFire, took about 2-3 mins to render in 1024x768)
Peacock Feather
(made with JWildFire, took about 4 mins to render in 1024x768)
And then, you can take it to the next level by infusing the deep dreams of the machine! My first attempt in JWildFire, named "1" as is always the case with anything new I do...
And, after applying the Dream:
So, what do you think? There are so many tools available today that give to anyone the opportunity to express himself and create stuff. But, still, in order to make something that stands out you need inspiration and a unique style.
Wow, this work is amazing!!!! How do you develop the numbers that produce these designs?
The one where you applied "dream" is so amazing, it's like a bunch of orangutang faces hiding in a rain forest
To put it very simply, each fractal is defined by a mathematical formula; the variables in the formula give the coordinates of a point (a pixel in the final image) and the iterations dictate the color. After hundreds of thousands of passes and iterations, the final image is rendered - a process that may take hours, depending on the complexity of the formulas. The user can input the formulas and the numbers used therein (coords, scale multipliers, zoom, camera angles, palettes, etc).
The "Dream" is using Google's Deep Dream technology to blend images in a unique way. There is an on-line app where you can try it for free:

so cool, will try the dream app right away!
Super cool, I used to play with Fractint on an old Pentium. You have inspired me to get back into exploring Fractals again. So thank you for this, followed!
However, I don't care for most of what I see coming out of Deep Dream. It is usually pretty creepy and dark.
Hehe, FRACTINT! That's what I used too back in the days, could not remember the name. Also, a Fractal Explorer integrated into Photoshop by Kai's Power Tools if I remember correctly. Glad to know you are returning to the fractal worlds, I'll wait for your posts.
Cool images and congrats for actually downloading and using the Jwildfire program! A lot say they want to learn, but few do. It is my favourite fractal flame app. And DeepDream is one of my favs too! Getting into Mandelbulb3D too.
Hope you hang in there and keep posting fractals, Woody and I are starting a Fractal Art group as soon as they let us start groups here on Steemit.
Thanks! I am currently obsessed with JWildFire, i've also installed mb3d but I can't tackle both at the same time. I've seen your tutorials and they are very helpful indeed. A fractal group would be very interesting, I'll be waiting from any news from you & @woodywood143 about it.
Glad you found the tutorial posts helpful, there will be more when time permits.
Can't wait to see how Steemit implements the group's thing, sooner the better!
We ran a JWildfire group on Tsū before that website went dark, we had about 500+ users!
Keep posting your Fractal Art! Questions are welcome and hopefully answered quickly!
