RE: Your Pipeline Fight + Invading White Spaces

in #fossilfuels6 years ago (edited)

I gather by your comment that you've never lived next to one that's burst, like thousands of Americans. You also don't seem to understand that moving these fuels is totally unnecessary. There are energy options that not only support the communities (which LNG doesn't bc it's predominantly shipped overseas for better prices) but are sustainable.

For recent news, I recommend checking out what's been going on with both the Mariner East 2 Pipeline as well as Rover. Take a look at those stories and then tell me if you still "like pipelines."

Sort:

yup..I still like pipelines.
you are uninformed.
Pipelines have the best safety record of any form of transportation per ton mile.
if you get rid of pipelines then safety will be adversely affected.

It's not really the pipelines that are the problem. It's the stuff that's being pumped thru them. Safety will be adversely affected regardless of how these fossil fuels are transported, as the climate warms and the crops fail. CO2 may benefit plant growth to some extent, but the benefit of the influx has it's limits, and the resulting heat stress and extreme weather is already causing a problem for farmers in some areas. The climate has always changed, but now because of our collective actions, which transcend party lines, it's changing at a pace that will challenge our ability to adapt. By the time deniers come to recognize this, (and there is a spectrum of denial because liberals who believe climate change is real still don't seem to think our lives will have to change significantly) it will be too late to address, as C02 stays in the atmosphere for decades up to thousand(s) of years. Thanks for spreading info regarding man made climate change.
