F1 TV streaming service gives access to livestream from all cars
The organization behind Formula 1 has announced the F1 TV streaming service. Viewers get access to livestreams from all cars, among other things. It will be available in over 20 countries.
In the announcement of F1 TV, the organization talks about availability in more than twenty countries, including Belgium. The Netherlands is not specifically mentioned. The streaming service is available in four languages: English, French, German and Spanish. Initially, the service can only be viewed via a browser, but later apps also need to appear for iOS, Android and for Amazon hardware. In what quality and with which framerate the images can be viewed, is not clear yet.
The F1 TV Pro service will cost 8 to 12 dollars per month and is free of ads. Viewers have access to various streams, including the live streams of the cameras on board all cars during the races. A promo film shows that it is possible to make a selection of two cars and view the image simultaneously. F1 TV Pro offers feeds that are not available on any other platform, according to the organization.
The F1 TV Pro streaming service shows all Formula 1 races, including the associated qualifying and practice sessions and press conferences. In addition, interviews are shown before, and after the races. And, subscribers are able to watch the FIA Formula 2 championship, the GP3 Series and Porsche Supercup.
The Formula 1 organization says that there will also be a cheaper F1 TV Access subscription, without live video's. This service will provide access to timing data during the race and radio commentary. Furthermore, the subscription gives access to highlights of races and a historical video archive. F1 TV Access is available 'almost worldwide', but what it costs has not been announced yet.
In October last year it already appeared that Formula 1 was planning to offer livestreams, but at the time it was said that the service would not come to countries where exclusivity was already stipulated with existing contracts.
