The reaction here has been positive, a lot of people see it as "China showing leadership", or "being the bigger man" if you will.

As you say it's hard to gauge the reality of the situation, with that being said it's a public concession is still seen as back-down if you will by the public, regardless of whether anything is implemented. This is something that didn't happen under Obama.

Giving ground on automobiles is clever as I don't think it's much of a big deal here. Rarely do I see any American cars on the roads here. Numbers might tell a different story.

I think it makes sense for China to open up to foreign investment this provides a stimulus for their economy that is not funded by the government which is well needed.
