Next in Line: 7. Paulo Dybala.

In the next installment of the Next in line series we look at a possible direct replacement for Messi. The 24-year-old superstar has shown glimpses of what he is capable of and has spent 3 seasons with Italian giants Juventus and is without a doubt one of the brightest prospects in world football. I am of course talking about Paulo Dybala.

The 24-year-old Argentine has been likened to fellow countryman Lionel Messi and is expected to take over the reins for is country when the mesmerizing Barcelona front-man decides to call it a day. The young Argentine has shown the whole world what he is capable of, starting the 2017/2018 season in scintillating form scoring 10 goals in six games. Dybala has also shown glimpses of his ability in the Champions League with most fans struggling to forget his wonderful appearance against Barcelona in last year’s tournament.

Paulo has pace, exceptional ball control, the ability to hold up play, an exceptional finish and dribbling abilities matched by very few footballers. Personally, one of my favorite players world wide “La Joya” or the Jewel offers his team goals assists and tons of energy. A player that can create something from nothing, Dybala can play behind the main striker or he can fulfill the role of the main striker heading the attack. A player that floats around the pitch terrorizing opposition fans and mesmerizing football fans world-wide.

Dybala has been getting better every season as he has now been a part of the Serie A Team of the season for two season (2015/2016, 2016/2017). Dybala also ended in 15th position for last year’s Balon D’Or (2017). One criticism that has been targeted in Dybala’s direction is that he is not consistent enough. The Juventus star however in my opinion can break any game and his consistency will come with experience.

Dybala is linked with Premier League giants Manchester United and would give the Old Trafford side even more firepower. The addition of a player of Dybala’s character will be great for the Premier League which is already filled with Superstars.

Dybala will be hoping to be instrumental in his countries bid to win the World Cup in Russia later this year. With the likes of Messi, Aguero, Dybala, Higuain and Correa Argentina are definitely in with a shot.
