The British amateur team that won the first international football tournament organized at the 1908 London Olympics. The first international match of this sport dates back to the game played between England and Scotland on November 30, 1872. Football at that time was virtually unknown outside the British Isles, but slowly began to develop in other parts of the world. Football debuted as a demonstration sport at the 1900 Olympic Games in Paris, repeated experience in Saint Louis 1904 and the 1906 Interleaved Games in Athens.

On May 21, 1904, the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) was founded to organize the development of sport, and within its original ideas came the possibility of holding an international tournament in 1906 Switzerland, but finally the proposal failed, however, the idea was maintained and materialized when in London organized the IV Olympic Games in 1908 and declared football as an official Olympic sport. In charge of the Football Association (not yet affiliated with FIFA, but with whom it had a close relationship), the first Olympic Tournament was won by the United Kingdom, followed by Denmark and the Netherlands.

Over the years the Olympic soccer tournament remained, but as an amateur event, in 1909 Sir Thomas Lipton organized a professional tournament between clubs representing each country in the city of Turin. This tournament is sometimes referred to as the "first World Cup." In 1914 FIFA recognized the Olympic tournament as a "football world championship for amateurs" and decided to take responsibility for the development of that event. After the First World War, the first intercontinental tournament was held at the 1920 Antwerp Olympic Games, where 13 European teams participated along with the Egyptian team.

In the Olympic Games of Paris 1924, the first one organized by FIFA, the South American teams were integrated. In this event, Uruguay was crowned champion, revalidating its title four years later, in Amsterdam 1928.

In 1930, the first World Soccer World Cup was played, which was hosted by Uruguay, which would also be the first world champion in history, after winning the final in Argentina (4-2) at the Centennial Stadium of Montevideo.

Italy, as Uruguay did four years before, would also be champion when organizing the World Cup, in this case the second in history. La Nazionale beat Czechoslovakia (2-1) with a goal from Angelo Schiavio in extra time.

The Italian team would revalidate the world title four years later in France, winning the final with authority to Hungary (4-2) and becoming the first country to have two world gins.

The Second World War that was developed in these years forced to that the appointments foreseen as much for the year 1942 as for the 1946 will not get to dispute.

The World Cup played in Brazil, in 1950, left one of the most memorable memories in the history of the World Cups. Uruguay would achieve its second award by beating Canarinha (2-1) in the final played at the Maracana stadium. The so-called 'Maracanazo' is still remembered by all football fans.

Germany would achieve its first World Cup in 1954, a match played in Switzerland, and did it by beating Hungary's Ferenc Puskas in a great comeback. The Hungarians started by winning 0-2 in the first ten minutes, but Germany managed to turn the scoreboard over to win 3-2.

In 1958, in Sweden, the first World Cup in Brazil, the country with the longest history in history, would arrive. Canaricha prevented Sweden, host country, from proclaiming itself world champion, and also did so with a convincing result: 5-2.

Four years later, in Chile, Brazil would place its second champion star on the shield after beating Czechoslovakia in the final, which would have to settle for a new sub-championship, which is added to the one they achieved in 1934.

England would become another of the countries capable of becoming world champion playing at home. The Three Lions would defeat Germany in an exciting final (4-2) in an imposing stage like Wembley.

In the year 1970, in the World Cup played in Mexico, Brazil would again be the champion, adding three world gimped in the last four events. In the final, held at the Azteca stadium, Canarinha went over Italy with a 4-1 without palliatives. The Brazil of the 70 'will always be considered one of the best teams in history.

Germany would host the 1974 World Cup and see how their national team would become world champion for the second time in their history by beating Johan Cruyff's Netherlands 2-1 in a match played at the Munich Olympic.

Argentina would follow the steps of Germany four years later, first becoming the world champion at home, and second again leaving the Netherlands with honey on the lips in the final (3-1). The Monumental dressed in Albiceleste.

Spain, in 1982, would see how Italy would be proclaimed world champion for the third time in its history. The Nazionale would win 3-1 to Germany in a final that took place in Madrid, at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.

Mexico lived the World Cup of Diego Armando Maradona, and obviously his Argentina, which would be world champion after prevailing in a great final to Germany (3-2). The '10' did not score in the final, but his tournament was simply sensational, especially his match against England, which left one of the best goals in history.

Four years later Germany would take revenge against Argentina, reissuing a final that would take the Mannschaft, by the minimum (1-0), to proclaim world champion for the third time in its history. The lone goal by Andreas Brehme served to win again at the Olympic Games in Rome.

The United States hosted for the first time a World Cup event that served to begin to lay the foundations for the 'soccer' began to be followed by the Yankees. Brazil would be world champion for the fourth time in its history after beating Italy in the penalty shootout. Roberto Baggio, with his penalty in the clouds, would give us another one of the images of the history of the World Cups.

The France of Zinedine Zidane would become world champion for the first time in its history after embroidering the tournament, which also acted as the local headquarters. In the final, played at the Stade de France, Les Bleus overwhelmed Brazil (3-0).

The first World Cup played on Asian soil left Brazil champion, again beating Germany (2-0) the team that has played the most finals in the history of the World Cups. Ronaldo, who was a sad protagonist in the 1998 final, would retaliate with a double that would be enough for Canarinha to become a five-time champion at the Yokohama stadium.

Germany would host four years later a World Cup that would be marked by two facts: the victory of Italy and the international withdrawal of Zinedine Zidane, who would be expelled in the final after giving a header to Marco Materazzi. La Nazionale would be the world's four-time champion after beating Les Bleus on penalties.

South Africa would live the total football of the Spanish National Team, which would proclaim itself world champion for the first time in its history after destroying its 'tiki-taka'. With a game of touch that dazzled the whole world, La Roja prevailed in the extension of the final, played in the Soccer City of Johannesburg, to Holland with a goal by Andrés Iniesta that is already the history of the sport.

Germany, Germany again in a final. On this occasion to proclaim world champion in Maracana for the fourth time in its history to beat Argentina, again, with a goal in the extension of Mario Götze. Lionel Messi, in a discrete final, would lose a golden opportunity to lift the World Cup.
