Two Legendary Centuries of Clean Sheets - Petr Cech

Today's post is dedicated to one of the greatest Goalkeepers the game of football has witnessed, a living legend, who has shown his mettle at the top for years and still kicking, Petr Cech.

Petr Cech on Sunday 11th March, 2018, reached a Milestone of 200 clean sheets in a League as fierce as the English Premier League, the only Goalkeeper to have come that far in the English Premier League.

The Czech International who was born in a set of triplet along with siblings Sarkan and Michal started his Premier League career with Chelsea when he joined the Blues in 2004.

He went on to make 486 appearances for the Stamford Bridge outfit, winning in the process, 4 Premier League and FA Cup titles, 3 League Cups, 1 UEFA Europa League and Champions League title each. He also has the sixth highest appearance for Chelsea and is the Highest capped Overseas player for the Abrahimovic funded side. He also made a record 220 cleans sheets for the Blues in all competitions, throughout his stay.

He is the former captain of the Czech National team and also holds the records for the highest caps with 124 appearances and He is the most capped player in the history of the Czech national team with 124 caps.

He represented his country at the 2006 World Cup, as well as 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016 European Championships.

Petr Cech has a lot of goalkeeping records and honours.

He was voted into the Euro 2004 all-star team after he helped Czech reach the semi-finals. He also received the individual award of Best Goalkeeper in the 2004/2005, 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 seasons of the UEFA Champions League. In addition, he was named in the FIFPro and UEFA Champions League team of the season in 2006.

He holds the joint highest record of golden gloves in the Premier League, having won it four times, 2004/2005, 2009/2010, 2013/2014 and 2015/2016.

He has won a lot of records I'm unable to print here, including Czech Player of the Year for 9 times; 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016.

In 2017, he was admitted into the Guinness Book of Records for the Most Clean Sheets on the English Premier League, 181 as at then and also for being the only Goalkeeper to have won the Golden Glove Award with two different teams, Chelsea and Arsenal.

He currently plays for Arsenal in England, joining from local rivals, Chelsea in 2015 and has gone ahead to make 110 appearances in all competitions, winning 1 FA Cup title and 2 Community Shield honours.
