Russia 2018: El-Shenawy Rejects Budweiser Man Of The Match Award

Egypt goalkeeper, Mohammed El-Shenawy rejected the Budweiser Man of the Match Award for his sterling performance in the 1-0 defeat to Uruguay at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The El-Ahly shot stopper was picked ahead of 45-year old Hasam El-Hadary - who is the oldest player in the World Cup history - for Egypt's first match against Uruguay and pulled off strings of wonderful saves to deny the attacking Prowess of Edison Cavani and Luis Suarez before being finally beaten by Jose Gimenez's header.

The Beer company signed a deal with FIFA as the Official beer partners for the 2018 World Cup.

The 29-year old who is a Muslim rejected the award which is moulded into a goblet based on religious ground as his faith strongly prohibits the intake of Alcohol in any quantity or of any quality.

Other prominent Muslims at the tournament include, fellow teammate, Mohammed Salah, France's Paul Pogba and Germany's Mesut Ozil.
