FIFA Approves Declan Rice's Nationality Switch
World football governing body, FIFA has approved the request by Declan Rice to switch nationality from the Republic of Ireland to England.
Rice featured for the Republic of Ireland at youth level and also played in three friendlies for the senior national team last year.
His eligibility for the Republic of Ireland comes from his grandparents and after taking a self imposed exile to decide on his future, he ended the six-month waiting period when he finally decided to switch his nationality to England on February 13.
The 20-year old would be hoping to making the cut for the Three Lions when Gareth Southgate releases his team list on March 13th.
Rice who has been impressive for West Ham this season would be in contention to make the squad for England's Euro 2020 qualifiers against Czech Republic and Montenegro.
The defensive midfielder has made 30 appearances so far already for the Hammers this season and scored only his second senior goal in last Saturday's win over Newcastle.
well that is strange
At least, it is a possibility and within the confines of FIFA rules.
