Same Old Story?
It has been a while that Lionel Messi featured for Argentina after the round of 16 defeat to the eventual winners; France. He first retired from international duty before he made a U-turn. He still hasn't played for Argentina for a while until last night when he came out of his self imposed exile.
Argentina featured new faces and not having some of the regulars might have affected their rhythm yesterday because Messi hasn't played with most of them, I am sure.
Argentina were duly beaten by a clinical Venezuela as they slumped to a 3-1 defeat. It has become the same story for Messi as he still struggles with the national team. It has never been about lack of effort, because it is obvious he gives his all for the team but it hasn't quite worked out well for him.
Venezuelans had a fill day in duly dispatching Argentina that featured Messi in it.
France were the other team that won Moldova by 4 goals to 1. The highlight of the game was Pogba's delightful lob pass Griezmann, who wasted no chance in smashing the ball into the back of the net. It was a lovely pass and a sweet goal to cap it up.
