It is really annoying when people do things without conscience. It is more painful when they feel they can get away with it and they cannot be checked. Some people feel the need to change the dynamics of things because they feel it is normal for them not alter the cause of things. It is really annoying.

For our Fathers' Day celebrations, we organized a football match in my Church, with Ibadan City All Stars at Adamasingba stadium.

The pitch is amazing, clean and neat. It is not a natural turf, but artificial. I am not sure if that is the one they refer to as synthetic but it is the kind of pitch you would never want to run over on your knees in wild celebrations, if you don't want to end up with blisters.

We started the match and it was a great start for us. We literally exposed and finished them. We used pace, techniques and power, even against their bulging figures. We took the game to them and it was so obvious by our two goal lead, which would have been 5-0 if not for the chances we wasted. Their anger was obvious as they were murmuring and lashing out at each other, which gave me the impression that they underrated us. They were deflated but we didn't know they have other plans.

Second half started and the referee started blowing against us erratically. It was such a surprise and shock because these are the things i only see on T.V or hear about but never experienced. Every attempt and challenge from us he would always blow against us, and he would overlook any of those from them. It was annoying and the interest and life in the match was being snuffed out and that was their plans.

The referee gave them two penalties with challenges that wasn't even worth blowing over and more so, with challenges that happened outside the box. Even the onlookers/spectators knew it was a wrong call. We already knew the referee has been influenced.

He added extra 20 minutes to the second half just to make them catch up with us. I was so angry that after the final whistle, i reluctantly shook hands with the opposition players that came to shake my hand.

They won 3-2 and with the last kick of the match, the referee came to me with others beside me and told us to just get the ball into their half, that he would make us draw. I was more angry. This is it!. He knew what he was doing all along. He doesn't want us to embarrass the Ibadan City All Stars and now he is trying to save his own face by making us nick a draw. I don't understand how he can have a clear conscience to sleep at night. If we were the ones that won in that fashion, i don't think it is something i would even talk to people about. If i was the referee too, i don't think i could ever live with such guilt and corruption. We are all different after all.

I wasn't happy with it, but i didn't cry either. In life, we learn as we live. This is another valuable lesson i learned and it always strengthen my mindset and character.

We lost the point, but i gained a valuable lesson in life.
