Football Prediction #1 (24/07/2021) - German Bundesliga 2: Werder Bremen v Hannover 96
It's always tough at the beginning of the season and as I've mentioned before, I always suggest never to bet real money until a team has 6 or more league games under its belt and we can see patterns in form emerging.
That's not going to help us today so let's have a look at what's been happening during the close season.
This is absolutely a game between two fallen giants. It's Werder Bremen's 1st season in the second tier since 1981 and for Hannover 96, their third. This could be a good game between old rivals!
Werder Bremen start the campaign as one of the favourites for promotion after the appointment of manager, Markus Anfang and he has retained most of the squad from last season and I think will be too strong for a Hannover 96 side who after just missing out on promotion in their first season in the 2nd tier, have spent the last two season in the wrong half of the table and seem to have done very little in the way of squad strengthening during the close season.
Before I call this one, I'd just add a word of caution in that Schalke 04, who also came down, lost their first game last night.
