Brazil's judicial authorities have closed the file of tax evasion filed by the state prosecutor's office in the Latin American country four years ago against Barcelona and Brazilian national Neymar da Silva, the player's father said in a statement.

"We have received with great pleasure the closure of the case of tax evasion provided by the Public Prosecutor's Office, and the case has been officially closed, which confirms the validity and fairness of our position in the case," the Brazilian star said in a statement.

The case not only touched the player, his father and three companies under their management, but also former officials of the Catalan club, led by former president Sandro Rosell.

Prosecutors have charged about 63.6 million Brazilian rials ($ 19.9 million) in taxes by not disclosing full incomes during the financial years between 2011 and 2013 for the player's transfer from Brazilian Santos to Bursa four years ago.

"We have lived through four years of false accusations, in which we, my family and employees, have suffered a great deal from me," said the statement, "although many people are skeptical, there is already justice in our country."

According to the player's father, Neymar's defense was able to respond to all charges filed by the Public Prosecutor's Office and revealed that there had been no tax evasion or manipulation.

Before the announcement of the final closure, the player had received a ruling in his favor in the same case by the Federal Tax Administration earlier this year.
