FIFA world cup holds every four years and it's the most prestigious tournament in the world.

The FIFA World Cup was first held in 1930, thirteen teams were invited by the organization. Ever since then, the world cup as experience a huge success and as expanded from thirteen teams to 32 teams.
- Qualifying for the tournament take two-years, involving over 200 teams from all over the world.
Sixteen countries have been FIFA World Cup hosts in the competition's twenty tournaments since the inaugural World Cup in 1930. And Uruguay is the first team to host the FIFA World cup in 1930.

- The FIFA World cup as never been won by an underdog, since the inception of the tournament in 1930 only 8 teams as won the tournament so far. Which makes me think this year's FIFA World would also be won by one of the previous winners.
The Brazilian team holds the record for winning the tournament the most (5x).
The Italians hold the record of winning the tournament back to back for the first time (1934 & 1938).
Uruguay is the first team to host the fifa world cup tournament and also win it.
South africa is the only African country to have hosted the fifa world cup tournament so far.

Italy 4x: (1934, 1938, 1982, 2006).
Germany 4x: (1954, 1974, 1990, 2014).
Uruguay 2x: (1930, 1950).

Spain 1: (2010).
The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be the 21st FIFA World Cup. The final tournament will involve 32 national teams, which include 31 teams determined through qualifying competitions and the automatically qualified host team which is Russia.
