A weekly roundup with all the latest on team news, player form, injuries, betting angles, ...

Zulte-Waregem vs Club Brugge 1-2

Zulte-Waregem
The home team showed they are a good new young team and were just shy of taking points against a top team. There was a video ref for this match but he did not give a clear penalty which caused a lot of fuzz in the media. The over bets will still be highly on my radar for Zulte-Waregem. They used up a lot of energy in a much more offensive 2nd half and gave away a lot of spaces near the end as they played all or nothing.
Club Brugge
The visitors played much less offensive than I anticipated with 5 defenders in the back (3-5-2) which brought and underish 1st half. There looks to emerge a similar pattern to Anderlecht. More offensive minded at home and more defensive minded away. This could produce some good betting opportunities as markets tend to be based more around the averages. Club Brugge missed a 1 on 1 chance in the last seconds for the 1-3.

KV Mechelen vs AA Gent 1-1

Mechelen
3th Draw in a row for KV Mechelen and I'm sticking to my valuation on them. Not the best team but they have a good mentality thanks to the coach and won't be blown away very often. They were dominated in the 1st half and at the start of the 2nd half but due to the 0-1 score did not break and fought back near the end of the match which got rewarded.
AA Gent
The visitors are showing signs of improvement. They played a good 1st half where they dominated and could have scored to 0-2 to seal the match after the break but failed and allowed Mechelen back into the match resulting in a draw. Kalenic who was back in the goal was a good thing, new expensive offensive player Andrijacevic did not look best still has a lot of question marks around him. Today new striker Yaremchuk from Dynamo Kiev will be joining AA Gent.

Eupen vs Kortrijk 1-2

Eupen
Eupen were missing quite some players for this match and did not really play forward at the start of the match which made it an underish affair. The 0-1 came because a mistake from the goalkeeper somewhat against play. Eupen right now does not seem like a team anyone should be afraid of. Garcia is a very important player and the visitors focussed to get him out of the match.
KV Kortrijk
The visitors again played a more then ok match and are far better compared to the playoffs last season. Goalkeeper Kaminski and Lepoint both played and excellent match. Overall atmosphere in the team also seems to be excellent.

Lokeren vs Moeskroen 0-2

Lokeren
Lokeren after a disaster start of the new season had their old success coach back but it did not show at all. Lokeren as a team are a sick in many ways. No depth, slow execution, not goal oriented and lacking scoring power, no confidence,... Lots of work for the new coach, usually these situations result in a very defensive approach. Important player persoons will miss next match.
Moeskroen
Not much to say about the visitors who won because of the poor opponent. They looked very vulnerable in defense in week 2 and still think every team who reach a good level can potentially blow them away. This match does not change my view for now.

KV Oostende vs Waasland 0-3

KV Oostende
The home team as a -1 favorite on the asian line were no match against Waasland. There was an early 0-1 and Oostende were shaken up by it and played a poor 1st half. The team right now are really missing Di Mata and have no scoring power. There are some players who are more focussed on making a transfer. El Ghanassi and Cyriac by now left the team and Musona and Siani still want to leave. In defense they also did not look best. Near the end of the match at 0-3 score they were able to put pressure but with no real results. Oostende are a team for me that are on hold. Great potential but they need to show something first. Gano from Waasland will be making a transfer to Oostende in an attempt to fix the problem.
Waasland
Waasland seem to be the real deal and might become an unexpected revelation who go a long way similar to Cercle Brugge quite some years back. Bad news this week as their top striker Gano left the team to Oostende. The impact this transfer has on the team will remain to be seen.

Antwerp vs Genk 3-5

Antwerp
The praised Antwerp defense got 5 goals against in this match and were no match for Racing Genk in the first half. I expect the amount of goals in matches from Antwerp to go up dramatically once they get behind. They have a lot of fighting power in them and will never just give up.
Genk
The visitors again played a great 1st half as showed what they are capable of. Near the end of the match a similar pattern to previous matches emerged and they got sloppy again allowing the opponent back in the match. They seem a good team to back in 1st half.

Charleroi vs Anderlecht 2-0

Charleroi
They took the win against an overall poor Anderlecht and somewhat confirmed against a better team. They don't look like a team that will get ran over a lot again this season and the first half was quite boring with no real chances. The 2nd half was more overish also because they managed to score the 1-0 on their first real chance after which they actually became the better team and finished things off on the counter in the last minute when Anderlecht went very attacking.
Anderlecht
Weiler bet on his proven recipe of a defensive approach in away games but failed to get through the Charleroi defense. Striker Theo looked better in this match but again failed to score. Anderlecht right now are not in gear yet but still have the potential to blow away any team on any day.

Stvv vs Standard 1-0

Stvv
The home team started with an interim coach will make place for Jonas De Roeck next match. Not that much to say about this match aside that is was no joy to watch. Stvv managed to score the late winner after Standard got 2 red cards.
Standard
Standard lost this match because they fell back to 9 players after getting twice red. Overall they played weaker compared to last couple weeks and my valuation of them will stay. It won't be easy for them to reach Play-off 1 as they rely on fighting power while overall quality is not on par with real top teams.
