CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP STAGE FINAL MATCHES [DAY TWO]

The drama didn’t end yesterday, eight teams will join those that has already qualified. It’s amazing how Tottenham and Liverpool qualified at the last minute. Inter Milan and Napoli would have replaced them in the round of sixteen if they provided one more goal. Also, Dortmund got the top spot in group A by defeating Monaco. Atletico Madrid couldn’t get a goal, therefore they will be playing against a top team in the sixteenth round. Let’s take a look at the teams that will play today.

GROUP E

Whoever top the group standings will be decided between Ajax and Bayern Munich tonight. Ajax is currently behind with 11 points, only two points separates them. If they defeat Bayern at Johan Cruijff Arena in few hours time, they will definitely be on top. AEK Athens hasn’t won or drew a single match, so they are out. Benfica got the Europa spot with 4 points.

GROUP F

Manchester City is the only English team topping a champion league group, and only a miracle will make Lyon get the top spot tonight. Manchester City has 10 points already and Lyon is behind with 7 points. Even if Lyon wins their match against Shakhtar Donetsk and City lose theirs against Hoffenheim, they wouldn’t cover the eight goals difference between them. The only thing that will be interesting in this group is discovering who gets the Europa spot. Hoffenheim has just 3 points and would want to win to cover up Shakhtar’s 5 points.

GROUP G

Real Madrid had crisis this season, their performance after Ronaldo and Zidane’s departure has been awful but they still proved they are worth the defending champions in this group. They are on top with 12 points while Roma is behind them with 9 points with a clear goal difference. But the real struggle will be between Victoria Plzen and CSKA Moscow. Both team have 4 points each and wouldn’t be playing against each other. CSKA will face Real Madrid while Plzen will battle with Roma. If both teams lose their matches, Victoria Plzen will get the Europa spot.

GROUP H

Ronaldo’s new team, Juventus is on top of the table with 12 points while Manchester United is behind them with 10 points. Both teams will be leaving their home for their last match in the group. Manchester United will be facing Valencia with 5 points, while Juventus will visit Young boys with just a point. The group seems decided already, unless Juventus lose or draw her match. That will bring them to the second spot if Manchester United wins.
