Dreaded October

Can you remember a gloom and doom salesman predicting this current month of October as being the month when something terrible would happen? I remember several.

We have one week remaining in October. The world remains as it was in July. Were the doom and despair guys wrong, or must we continue to live in fear?

It feels like a foggy night on the deck of the Titanic. There is a party going on in the ballroom complete with singing, dancing, and loud celebration. I stand alone in the night air afraid of the future.

Who is crazy? I believe I am. The future is certain for all of us.

The point is, the future is not the problem. Today’s problems are both logical and real. Logically, I see corruption in government, business, and banking. I have done all I can to protect myself from the eventual failure of the debt based world economy. Real problems are beyond my personal capacity. The financed lifestyle of the average citizen will eventually cause global pain. This must remain Someone Else’s Problem.

Standing here I can hear the occasional skreetch of a hunk of ice hitting our ship. I check my life vest but realize the odds of surviving in frigid water are bad.

Honestly, I think you should join the party. I am the fool on the hill. Don’t mind me.
