My Delicious Journey #1st on the list food I learned to LOVE while living in UAE =)
Growing up, I think we all have our own list of food we never tried because our minds have already warned us that its something we are not going to like. With my experience, I met someone who never tried anything with vinegar, one who doesn't like the taste of squash and one who would bail her way out if she sees anything slimy like okra.
Each of us has his/her own preference when it comes to taste. Many wouldn't try eating those of which were not introduced to them when they were little ( This is me!) but there are also people who are quite adventurous and would try anything new.
When I started living in the UAE, I met people who are into something new. Anything new to their taste buds excites them. Being with these people almost everyday woke up the curiosity of my taste buds. Eventually , I learned to love food which I thought I would never like.
This experience has been wonderful and i would like to share it with all of you. So, here is the first on my list of food that I learned to love when I started living in the UAE.
Mixed Veggies Pickles ( I'm not really sure what it's called but i named it that =) )
When I hear the word " Pickles" I usually think of cucumber. I never saw this when I was still living in the Philippines and I never really liked the canned cucumber pickles. If one is placed in my burger, I would normally give it to the person sitting next to me of throw them away secretly.
This mixed vegetable pickles is normally served in cafeterias all over UAE together with the forever lovable Shawarma. Whenever we were served this, none of us would eat it as if it doesn't exist. This has been the case until 1 of my considered ate in Dubai convinced me to try it. She was so persistent that I couldn't say no since she was also older than me. So I ate a bit. I remembered choosing the carrots. ..........and I LOVED IT .
From then on, I fell in love with it. It really has a strong sour taste that could be quite a lot to handle at first, but I can assure you that it is best paired with the meat, veggies and garlicky cream in the Shawarma.
So for those of you who have not tried eating this yet , give it a try. Who knows, you might also love it as much as i do now. =)
