After 15 years in China I still haven’t taken a liking to hit pot . Like you I prefer the food served ready on the plate.
In China food and eating together is one of the biggest parts of the culture and in this aspect it can be nice because you sit and eat together for a long time
I prefer taking time and eating in company so I support that kind of dining. But some habits are just too hard to change.
