Grape & peach smoothie

in #food8 years ago
It is grape season!!! We have two grape trees at home and they create a gorgeous roofing over our yard and terrace. Most of our neighbors have them too so the entire street has a lovely sweet grape scent. There are so many grapes that we just can not eat it all so most of our friends come and happily help us eat them. My favorite way to eat grapes is in smoothies or elixirs of health as I like to call them.

The best thing about having A LOT of grapes is the fact that we have enough to share. There is no way we can eat it all so we happily share it with others and even swap them for other fruit. Some of our friends have apples and peaches that they happily give to us and receive our grapes in return. Sharing is caring. We just received peaches and figs last week and are going for some nice apples today. Here is my recipe for the purple elixir or the grape and peach smoothie...

One of the benefits of fruit smoothies is that there is no added sugar in them. Fruit has enough. They are tasty and all ages can enjoy them, you do not even have to have teeth ;)

For 1.5 L of smoothie, you will need:

  • 4 clusters of grapes
  • 4 medium-sized peaches
  • 1 fig
  • 4 dcL of water
  • some chia seeds
Consider these more of suggestions than rules and play with ingredients. You can add more grapes or more peaches if you want, there are no specific rules. It will turn out great, I am sure. As for the water, it all depends on how thick you want your smoothie to be. I add just enough water for the smoothie to be drinkable. When I drink just one glass of this one, I do not need any food for 2 to 3 hours after it so it is great for snacks or light meals.

You will need some kind of blender or food processor that mashes. I have a lovely green blender that works perfectly.

Remove your grapes from the stem and put them in the blender. Remove the pit from peaches and add them too. I had one last fig so that was thrown in there too. My blender needs a bit of water so water it got, only about half of dcL. I turned it on and watched it blend and blend and blend. After a couple of moments, I added the rest of the water and turned it on again.

You can add a little bit of water and then try it and add more if you want, you do not have to add all of it as I did, play with it and find the taste you like.

Since my grapes have a lot of tiny pits inside, when I was done with blending, I strained it all to remove those pits and have only liquid as a result. It turned out to be around 1.5 L so I divided it to 4 people and each one of us got more than 3dcL of the smoothie, almost two full glasses. It was a real meal really and I was not hungry for a while after it.

And there you go, I made another elixir of health and, of course, took a photo of it in my fancy glass used exclusively for taking photos of smoothies :) This one turned out really nice and had amazing vivid color. As with all my smoothies, I added some chia seeds in it to boost its healthy features even more.

A little disclaimer:

The smoothie had a purple color like seen in the photo above. As for the first photo, I was drinking it out of a larger glass that is greenish and brownish so you can not really see the real color of the smoothie. Trust the color from the last photo of smoothie in a fancy glass 😎

Until next time,

we have lots of grapes on the land we're parked on I use them mainly for juicing, but love this recipe for a smoothie, will have to get some peaches, they are at the end of the season and I like to but locally so hopeful i bag myself some xx

I love juices too but I prefer the smoothies because I eat the entire fruit that way, everything gets mashed nicely but I used to make juices and use what was left in cakes. That was nice too. Good luck with your peaches 💚

@zen-art this looks so delicious and makes me want some ass well! :D

Oh yeah, very good for you 💚

I'm so envious of people who live in areas where grapes grow. Though we are having a bumper season of blackberries this year, and they are one of my favourite fruits.
This looks delicious. Vivid colours like this, from an all-natural creation, make me wonder why food colouring was ever invented!

Awww, I love blackberries but they are really really expensive here where I am. My mother in law used to have them in her yard, I do not know if she still does. I will have go and take a look ;)

They are all over the place here, just growing wild, so I suppose there are some compensations for not having grapes! The brambles have invaded my flower garden - I've been cutting them back all summer, but now I have a bumper crop :)

That looks and sounds so tasty! I wish we had some grapes or peaches available around here! I've seen grapes at the market (Chile import I believe) but never seen peaches. Isn't that sad? We love peaches! Anyway, that sounds really yummy and good for you! Thanks for sharing! :)

I hope you will get your hands on some of it and try it out. Much love 💚

I usually eat fruits as they are without additional mixing. Other than that, a 'collection' of the fruits you chose is perfect.

I like mixing stuff, I did not before but I started with adding vegetables to my fruit smoothies and that is how it all started :D Now I put anything I can find in there :)

This post came just in time as it's the perfect season for smoothies. I love trying new things out as long as they are a plus for my health and more than that, this is so easy to be homemade! :)

yeah, the best thing about this is that is simple and easy to make and yet filled with good stuff for our health 💚

It looks absolutely delicious. I rarely make them because making a smoothie for one is, well, not easy.

We have good grapes here, lots of them. Peaches are problematic. By the time they have been shipped from where ever you could slice them carefully, paint them black and use them as hockey pucks. The only hope is to get out and about to the sources. I used to have a friend that did a Labor Day Trapshoot in Delta, Colorado. He'd bring a box of peaches home every year and divide them up. I always got my share. I miss Denny and his peaches every year at this time.

How would I know your blender would be green? That made me giggle right out loud.

Thanks Petra as always. Always a sweet treat from you.

Why wouldn't it be easy? No excuses honey, just divide the amount of these ingredients by 4 :D
Yeah, my blender is green. Of course it is :D :D :D

You know? You are right, it's an excuse. Pitiful one at that (Some of my excuses are EPIC).

I'm on it. Really. Tomorrow at the latest :)
