Food in LA - Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong for Meat Lovers 吃在洛杉矶 - 肉食动物们不可错过的姜虎东BBQ

Besides Hollywood, Santa Monica and Universal Studios, LA is also well known for the wide selection of food.

Chinese students in LA are lucky compared with those in other areas except New York. From Monterey Park all the way east to Rowland Heights, you can always find one restaurant which offers authentic cuisine of your hometown.

It's the same case to the Korean and Japanese people in LA. You can find the majority of Korean restaurants in Koreatown, and good Japanese restaurants in Torrance - Little Tokyo is your last choice.

I came back to LA to visit friends last Christmas. When my friend asked me which restaurant I'd like to go to, to my surprise, the first one occurred to me was Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong.

This place is heaven to the meat lovers.

除了好莱坞圣莫妮卡环球影城，洛杉矶另一个广为人知的特点就是好吃的东西多。

在洛杉矶的中国留学生比起在其他地方（除了纽约）的都还算是幸福的，基本不至于天天想着家乡菜流口水，从Monterey Park一路向东到Rowland Heights，总有一家能满足思乡的味蕾。（说不定还能在老灶火锅邂逅凡凡。）其他菜系也是一应俱全，韩餐BBQ都在韩国城，日料请去Torrance——实在不能跑那么远再考虑小东京吧。

离开半年之后再次回到洛杉矶，朋友问我最想去吃啥，没想到第一个出现在脑海的居然是姜虎东。

洛杉矶的姜虎东可以算是肉食者的天堂了。

You can choose the beef combo or pork combo if you don't have any preference. Personally I prefer beef and the marinated grilled beef ribs are my favorite - photos attached below.

菜单比较简单，没有偏好的话可以选套餐尝试不同的肉类。我比较喜欢牛肉，最喜欢调味过的牛排（菜单上叫Marinated grilled beef ribs）。烤好的长这样：

There are some tips I'd like to share with you if you're ready to go.

1. Try to be there early - maybe 4:30pm for dinner, otherwise you will have to wait for 1-2 hours. I heard that the Torrance branch is less busier. Maybe you can go further to Torrance to avoid the waiting.
2. You can have a cup of boba milk tea just opposite to the restaurant or wander around - although there's nothing special in the neighborhood. They will text you when it is your turn. However, it seems only the US number works.
3. Driving in Ktown can be annoying. But parking at Kang Ho Dong is not a problem as long as you have cash ($5) for valet parking.

如果你这就准备出发了，再听我唠叨几句——

1. 尽量赶早去，吃晚饭的话四点半到，动辄等位一两小时不是骗人的。听说Torrance分店人相对少点，可以考虑去分店。
2. 等位期间可以去对面喝喝奶茶去附近逛逛（虽然也没什么好逛的），到你了店家会发短信通知你——不过根据圣诞期间的经验好像只能发给美国的号码。
3. 韩国城车多路窄，但姜虎东VALET停车并不困难，准备好五刀现金就行。
