Best thing to do with your Halloween Pumpkins

I'm a total foodie and thought I would start writing about food! Who doesn't love good food tips and tricks! Hello Steemit with some of my favorite food ideas.

I like to go to the pumpkin patch every year with my nephews! The totally love it and in our family its a right of passage, and getting all of those fresh amazing bulbs! - who can resist that?

When your pumpkins start to fade though, you really have a challenge on what your going to do when them instead of throwing them away.

Pumpkins are nonetheless products of unsustainable practices, and each one of them carries a burden on carbon footprint. Here are some way better ways that you can dispose of your old pumpkin that will make it last even longer!!

COMPOST YOUR PUMPKINS

Don't just throw them away, pumpkins make a great addition to any compost pile. If you put them in the right part of the season an you might even get some free plants out of the deal next year!

FEED THEM TO ANIMALS!

Pumpkins are super rich in nutrients and so many animals are eager to eat them! Check with your local farmer before feeding anything to their animals, but if you know anyone with some outdoor animals call them and see if they might want them! Free food that is tasty is the best food! Treat your local outdoor animals.

EAT THEM UP!!

As long as the inside of your pumpkins hasn't started to rot or been overly exposed to the air, they should be fine to make a puree. Keep it simple and give yourself an incredibly healthy addition to everything from soups to sweets.
