Two Sis & Co., Pyrmont @ Sydney, Australia

in #food6 years ago

Low-key, small, pretty, cozy... these are just a few words used to describe this cafe by a number of foodies and visitors of this cafe. We would be using the same words too.

Indeed a little cafe located on the a street in Pyrmont which is Sydney's CBD, this cafe has been visited by many well-known Sydney foodies as they share many insta-worthy shots of this cafe's pretty and well presented food and drinks. This cafe is fairly little that there is no more than 10 tables both inside and outside the cafe. A queue is much expected.

Inside has a neat and average cafe layout. The menu however... it's actually an Asian-Western fusion cafe! Yes!! We have a thing for fusions. This place has got Japanese, Thai and Indonesian as well.

Ready to see the food and drinks? Be prepared to feast with your eyes! (LOL)

Blue Latte

Green Unicorn

Nutella Hot Chocolate

Baked Eggs

Ramen Bowl

Famous Dukkuh Eggs

Cheese Burger

French Toast

The queue: Was it worth it? Well, we waited for only 30 minutes (hear that sarcasm?). The sotry behind it was that we grabbed a number and were put on the waiting list for a table of 4. A big group of people came from out of no where, didn't grab a waiting number and gathered around the outdoor seatings area. As soon as people left they just popped themselves down and even moved chairs from indoors to sit outside. What?! We were first and standing right in front of the cafe, patiently waiting to be seated. The waitresses didn't seem to care and served them anyway. For a split second, we really thought that we were literally somewhere in Asia and not Australia. How rude!?

Service: Following what was said about queue incident, a waitress came over and asked how she can help us. Umm.. yeah... Literally didn't talk to her and just lifted the waiting number in her face then to see her quickly running in to check the waiting list... and came back with the usual "Sorry for the wait, we will get you a seat soon...". No apologies on the mistake but that's alright, we know it was an awkward enough situation to be in. Staff weren't friendly at all. They literally rushed us to order the moment we sat down and were given the menu. Give us a break.

Food & drinks: Very true indeed that this place serves very pretty food. As soon as the drinks and food arrived, it was obvious that we had forgotten about the earlier incident... until we tasted it. All the drinks were pretty to look at but very sweet or weird with the fairy floss combination. The avocado used in the dukkuh was not fresh and obviously ruined the taste. The baked eggs - lets no go there, shall we? From everything we tried, it was somewhat only worth trying the French Toast.

Value: For 4 people, it cost about $110 AUD in total. If you pay in cash, you get a 3% discount.

Would we visit again? This place is highly rated and reviewed online although there are quite a few negative comments which we chose to ignore. We just happen to be joining to negative reviewers and will be saying no to this one.

shame on them for letting people push in. the drinks and meals all look nice but if the service is bad, taste is so so, no thanks!

Talk about a tourist trap. Sounds like the servers and cooks are used to being treated like animals. Kind of a waste when people are paying for very expensive ingredients.

Recently I went to a sandwich shop, and I was the only person waiting at the front of the line. A lady who was senior to me, stood behind me, and the server asked her if she could be helped. Apparently I was invisible to both of them, even though I was standing in front. I had to get out of her way.

She started ordering in the most rude and obnoxious way, condescending like the server did not know how to do their job, although saying "that's right" for following her instructions, as if that was nice. I swear she told them how she expected them to slice bread and put every topping and condiment on. "Take the two separate halves, and then wrap it. Here I'll show you when you are ready.... yes, like that. I bet you thought I was going to make you use separate wrappers for each piece." I sure did.

Nope, no apologies to me by the staff or the customers. At least the other server arrived when they were finished and asked me if I wanted to order. Yes! What can I do? They work minimum wage, and they have to endure rotten customers like this.

it's just unprofessional and rubbish service. we can only endure so much of it.
