The Grounds of Alexandria was once a pie factory built with brick walls and has an organic garden. Today, it is turned into a complex with cafes, bars, gardens and markets. It is indeed one of Sydney's best places to visit for coffee, the grab a meal or to spend a family day at. It's not only the Sydney-siders who know about this place but those from other parts of Australia and some international foodies and visitors may have heard and visited this place as well.

We have recently visited this place as news have broke that Kevin Bacon is retiring! Wait, who is Kevin Bacon?

We're not referring to the actor named Kevin Bacon but a the mascot of The Grounds of Alexandria who's been given the name Kevin Bacon. For those of you who haven't heard of Kevin Bacon, he's a pig who is much loved and has caught the attention of those who have visited The Grounds. Unfortunately, Kevin Bacon is retiring after 5 years of being the centre of attention at The Grounds of Alexandria and it is time for him to return to the farm with his family and friends. Due to his retirement, The Grounds is throwing a big farewell party for him and the decorations around the place is mostly dedicated to him.

At The Grounds, there is a little farm area where Kevin Bacon lives with his chicken friends. They each have their own houses and eating area. During the day, the love coming out to greet each other and the people who come to see them.

We visited early on a weekday and luckily the place wasn't too crowded. We managed to walk around without having to squeeze through people like we usually do on the weekends. There is a lot to see! Let's take a look around, shall we?

The beautiful florist we adore! We promise that you'd be stopping here admiring the flowers and the vibrant colours that just catches your attention!

Fresh Lemonade and their pastries are also worth trying!

Coffee, alcohol and fancy drinks? You can order them here at the open bar.

There are a few cafes here too. The more popular cafes may require you to wait 30-40 minutes for a table on a busy day. If you're early or lucky, you may be able to walk in straight away or wait no more than 15 minutes. We visited the cafe called 'The Potting Shed'.

The Potting Shed is like you've walked into a Green House. It's filled with plants and gives you a very natural atmosphere.

We were provided with a table really quickly however the wait for our food did take a little longer than we hoped for. The staff here at the cafe were friendly and helpful with the food recommendations and portion sizes. This place charged us $10 for still water so you can imagine that the price here is slightly higher than the average Sydney cafe. You're looking at spending $120AUD for 3 meals, a starter and drinks between 3 people.

Would we return? Yes, but not urgently and desperately.
