Hi Steemit Friends!

Here's another food share from us as we sail struggle through the rest of the week before the Easter long weekend. This time we got to try out modern Chinese restaurant in Sydney CBD called "Spice Temple". Spice Temple focuses on flavours from regions that aren't that well known in China such as Yunnan, Jiangxi, Hunan, Sichuan, Guangxi and Xingjiang. (The owner and chef of the restaurant is Western,FYI.)

几天前,我跟两位美女在一家挺有名的餐厅叫《Spice Temple》吃饭。在澳大利亚这个餐厅的厨师也挺有名的。 他的专长是亚洲烹饪. Spice Temple的主要焦点是中国菜 - 特别是有些没有很出名的地方, 例如: 云南, 江西, 湖南, 四川, 广西还有行将。(餐厅的老板和厨师是鬼佬.)

When we first got the the outside of the building, I had no idea where the entrance was except Google Maps was telling us that we have arrived at our destination. That was until we saw someone walk out from a subtle looking door which I really thought was a sign board. Here's what it looks like 👇

Yes, that was the entrance. Behind the door is a spiralling flight of stairs which leads downstairs to where the restaurant is. The ambience inside is dark, red, classy, a bit romantic and it does indeed scream 'authentic China'.

是的,这个是门口~ 门后是一条螺旋形的阶梯,通往楼下的餐厅。餐厅里很黑,有好多红灯,优雅 也有点浪漫的感觉。很现代的中国餐厅.

It was a lunch time on a weekday and the restaurant was fairly full with mainly business people dining-in. We were quickly attended to by their friendly waitress who also knew the menu very well to recommend some dishes to us as we took a while to decide.

那天我们是中午去的所以在餐厅里的大部分是在附近上班的人。 中午时间当然会有好多人也很忙,但幸好服务员态度很好也介绍了几个菜给我们。

Okay, so their menu. What I love most about going to restaurants like this one is that their menu is made for banquet orders. This means that you don't order your own dish but instead you can order a variety and share with the table and get to taste more than just one or two dishes!

We started off with drinks. Their drink menu is also amazing. Keeping it to the Chinese theme, they have available a cocktail list that features 12 of their self-invented cocktails based around the Chinese zodiac. Our friend has been to this restaurant before and she is proudly born in the year of the pig. She has ordered the drink which goes with her zodiac and highly recommended it to us and so we ordered one to share. It wasn't just your usual cocktail glass but rather a bottle! This one was lychee based and was really yummy.

餐厅的菜单是宴会菜单。 这样可以尝试好多菜! 他们的饮料菜单也挺有意思的! 他们有十二个不同的鸡尾酒。 每一个都是代表一个生肖。 我们之间有一位室友来过这里吃饭的。 他也属猪所以她推荐的鸡尾酒叫“猪”。 这个不是平时在鸡尾酒杯里的而是一个大的瓶子。鸡尾酒是荔枝味, 很好喝!

For entree we had the raw yellowfin tuna with spicy orange oil and lettuce. Zesty and extremely fresh tuna!

1KG Lobster in four chillies - I've said this before in a previous post but the four chillies sauce was delicious! It's something I still think about... drool

Tea smoked duck with mandarin pancakes. This one was a bit dry to my liking. I prefer the duck pancakes I get from the normal yum cha places.

茶熏鸭煎饼。 有点干。 我比较喜欢平时喝茶的地方吃的鸭煎饼。

Steamed king abalone mushroom, garlic stems, chives and ginger.

Kung Pao prawns in Sichuan peppercorns, heaven facing chillies and cashews.

Five dishes between three girls pretty much shows how much we lacked self control over the menu and it also became a challenge for us to clean our plates. I have to be honest here though - the food was amazing! I would definitely dine here again if it weren't for the hefty bill at the end. All that easily exceeded $500 AUD!!! (huge thank you to the person who paid the bill!!) It is expensive mainly because of the lobster as it's market price in Sydney is quite crazy. If you were to eat everything we did without the lobster it would total to be around $200 AUD.

五个菜,三个女生: 这是代表我们点菜的时候控制不了自己。 说真的,这里的食物真的很好吃。 如果不是因为太贵的话,我会再来这里吃饭的。 我们那天吃了超过$500 AUD!!! (真的感谢那天付钱的好朋友!) 估计是因为那个龙虾所以才会那么贵的。 如果没有点龙虾, 应该是有$200 AUD左右。
