Yaniqueque
Yaniqueque is a food very commun in the Dominican Republic. To complicate matters the name of yaniqueque is applied to several types of flour chips, some smaller than in some parts of the country served with hot chocolate as breakfast.
Ingredients are:
1- wheat flour
2- baking powder
3- Salt
4- Water
5- vegetable oil Or (soy oil)
6- coarse salt
7- Eggs
8- Butter
How To Prepare:
1- Mix - flour, common salt, baking powder, egg and butter.
2- Add the water and 3 tablespoons of oil to the dough on the flour and mix well.
3- Wrap in plastic film and let the dough rest for 10 minutes.
4 - Stretch the dough until you get a thin sheet, cut it into circles.
5 - Heat the frying oil to medium temperature and fry the circles in hot oil until brown on both sides.
6- Sprinkle the yaniqueques with coarse salt to taste and it's ready to eat.
Note: Enjoy your Yaniqueque, i know is a name so crazy, but it's called like that, i like to make Yaniqueque everyday and its tastes great.
