Arby's doubles down on venison

in #food7 years ago

Last year Arby's became the first national quick-service chain to offer game meat with the launch of a venison sandwich.

But history books would likely put an asterisk by that claim as the limited-time offer was only available at 17 of the Atlanta-based chain's more than 3,200 units — all in areas with avid deer hunters — and only 500 sandwiches were available at each location, which the chain reported sold out in minutes.

Now Arby's is relaunching the sandwich, made with thick-cut red tailed deer farm-raised in New Zealand nationwide on Oct. 21.

Yum, yum, give me some! You'll know where I'll be eating on October 21st.

I did a post about this sandwich last year hoping I could get my hands on one but unfortunately I think Minnesota or Wisconsin was the closest place for me to get one last year.

Venison is so good if it's prepared right. I thought about just getting a deer tag just so I could have the backstrap meat to make deer steaks wrapped in bacon. mmm, now that's some good shit.

They are also coming out with an Elk sandwich which sounds delicious too.

My butcher has a sign, advertising that he has real meat that is not GMO and has no Roundup or hormones. He sells, according to the season, game meat. I love it as it is often cheaper than beef, lamb etc.

With the meat coming from New Zealand farms, I wonder just how natural the meat will be. I don't know that much about their stand on GMO etc.
