Stuck for lunch ideas? Tired of uneaten sandwiches and fruit? Try these easy, tasty ideas to ensure your child’s lunch box comes home lighter!

Fruit skewers

If you’re tired of the boomerang banana or bruised apple returning home in the lunch box day after day, try making fun and fruity skewers. Thread bite-sized pieces of fruit, such as watermelon, pineapple, grapes and berries, onto plastic or wooden skewers (just remove the sharp ends).

Baby veg

Trying to get your little ones to eat more vegies? Qukes®baby cucumbers are a delicious snack, that’s perfect for kids. They’re snack-sized (just 8-12cm long!) with a thin skin, crisp texture and mild flavour that kid’s love. Plus, they require no chopping, so it saves you precious time in the morning. Win-win!

Frozen yoghurt

Freeze a tub or pouch of yoghurt the night before so it defrosts just in time for an icy cold calcium hit at morning tea. Plain, unsweetened varieties are the lowest in sugar, or pick a flavoured yoghurt with less than 10g sugar per 100g – about half of that is the natural milk sugar, lactose.

Popcorn trail mix

Little hands love little bite-sized pieces of food, and a trail mix is a great way provide energy and fibre to fill hungry bellies at school. You can even get your child to help choose what goes in it. Swap our nuts for plain popcorn, and add a blend of dried fruit, muesli, dry cereal, crunchy seeds and coconut. The options are endless!

Cheese

Whether it’s cubed, sliced or diced, cheese has to be a favourite food among most kids. It’s packed with nutrients, including bone-building calcium. Add a couple of wholegrain crackers and cherry tomatoes, and you have a balanced lunch box snack that’s easy to eat and tastes good!
