Lemang is a food made from glutinous rice, which is burned using bamboo. But before burning, the glutinous rice is washed first, then mixed with coconut milk. After that, let stand for a while so that the coconut milk seeps into the rice. Before the rice is put into the bamboo, the bamboo is first covered with young banana leaves, then the rice is then added to the bamboo. The tradition of cooking this lemang, for some regions, in North Aceh and the city of Banda Aceh, is especially true during the month of Ramadan. And usually it's eaten with srikaya jam or mixed with sugar cane.
But specifically for the Aceh region, the glue is usually cooked at the time of the feast. So during holidays, almost every house has lemang. And usually, there are two types of lemang in this area. Lemang rice and lemong ubi.
And this lemang menu, becomes a favorite food when the holidays arrive. Since I am a native of North Aceh, almost every Eid, we get shipments in the form of rice and sweet potatoes. And the taste is delicious, making many people like it.
