Kadhi Chawal - A popular Indian dish
Hey Steeemians!
Howdy Everyone!
Hope Everyone is doing great. And had an awesome
New Year Eve well spent
with family and friends.
I want to wish you guys all love and happiness this year! May you all
take a leap of faith and begin
this wondrous new year
by believing.
I had an amazing time with my family on
New Year Eve, my mom like every mom is an
outstanding cook. But the best food she cooks
is Punjabi Kadhi Chawal, i.e gram flour and yoghurt based Curry with Rice.
Here a sneaky picture of mouth-watering Kadhi
Yeah, I bet it looks something delicious to Eat,
sprinkled with red chillies and coriander.
It is richly flavoured with an assortment of spices ranging from cloves and fenugreek and cinnamon and coriander seeds, and what makes it irresistible is pakoras (a fried snack) made up of fresh gram flour and onion.
We have the Kadhi with Rice, most of the people like it with rice but as far as my taste goes I feel it taste best with Chapattis garnished with coriander leaves, garam masala and added Ghee chauk (red coloured oil you will see in subsequent photos)
Basic ingredients include:
Bengal Gram flour, turmeric powder, sour whisked curd/ sour buttermilk, cinnamon cloves and ghee.
If you are thinking about cooking it for yourself.

That looks so good! I may have to buy many spices to make that. And fresh fenugreek. I've never seen that in my grocery stores!
If you don't find any spices in America ... I'll try to send them across :) .. .. It will take time so sending love from India!
