Pork Roast My Way! (Recipe)

Today I found on special at the shops pork for a good pork roast.

I made it the way I have been making it for years, I do not remember where I got this recipe from it was that long ago.

It is a simple way to prepare the meat and it tastes like it was made by the worlds best chefs in restaurants, so my husband says!

Ingredients:

1 piece of pork, approximately 2 to 3 kg, with the skin on it.
cooking oil
salt,
Vegeta
1/2 a can of beer

Step 1

Take your piece of meat and cut into the skin and fat, do not cut into the meat. Approximately 1 cm apart

Then rub oil into all the cuts and salt into all the cuts.

Then flip the meat over and rub in the Vegeta (you may choose to add herbs and spices that you prefer, we like Vegeta)

Just rub the baking pan with a little bit of oil, so that the meat does not stick to it before than the meat starts letting its own natural juices flow.

Step 4

Pour into a bowl approximately half a can of beer and then add the same amount of cooking oil and mix it all together.
This shall be needed later.

Step 5

Place your meat into a preheated oven at 250 degrees celsius and leave it in there for 30 minutes, then take it out of the oven, and with a table spoon pour the beer and oil mix over the meat, after which you put it back into the oven and lower the temperature to 200 degrees celsius.

Leave it in the oven for 2 to 2.5 hours (depending on the size of the meat) and every 15 to 20 minutes baste with the juices from the pan and then with the beer and oil mix.

Check the meat to see if it is well cooked, may depend on the oven you are using, so better check, simple knife and stab the meat to see or cut a piece off to see.

A good pork roast every now and then is always welcome. When made like this the meat is juicy and the skin is crunchy.

The beer gives it a good flavor and the spices work their way up the roast as it cooks and not taking over the natural flavours that the meat should have.
