Dinner at Renaa Matbaren - Open Faced Sandwich
We serve open faced sandwiches in Scandinavia.
It just called “skive” which basically just means “a slice” (of bread.)
Today I visited Renaa Matbaren in Stavanger.
The occasion was that my cousin from the US is visiting, miss @trinaskylar !
Yummy rye bread, one with steak, mustard and an onion ring, one with chicken salad and herbs. Wowzaaaa!
We also happen to be unhealthy slobs, so we shared this burger:
I love this restaurant. They have great food, friendly staff and nice art on the walls!
Trina also tasted “Eplemost” for the first time. It’s very Norwegian. It’s like if freshly squeezed apple juice, sprite, non alcoholic apple cider and sparkling water had a baby. Delicious!
Trina’s grandparents are both Norwegian, that’s how we are related. And I hate to admit this, but we’re actually “just” second cousins!
She surprised her mom with a trip to Norway, and I’m so excited that they’re here. Trina’s mom hasn’t been to Norway in 47 years!
She is a drama queen (or dramadronning as I call her in Norwegian), and so is her mom. Her mom started the trip by falling down the stairs at the house she’s staying in. LOL! I’m pretty relieved she didn’t hurt herself, as they are only here for six days.

I just love how there are 195 countries in the world, and every single one of them have different foods and cultures to offer. This leaves so much space for exploration, and therefore travelling will never be a dull and stale activity. There will always be new cuisines, all around the world, waiting to be savoured. This is why I am so excited to go to Europe (France) for the first time in December, and I've heard the food over there is delicious compared to America. :D
Really enjoyed seeing we both share this same love for food, great post susanne!
Wow!
That onion ring sandwich look LEGIT!
Very cool picture and thanks for sharing.
Hello dear @susanne , How are you doing girl ? Good to see you back , were missing you . Thanks , have a great day and plz be in touch 😊
This post make me hungry :P These “skive” look really tasty!!!
OOOOHhh that looks sooo yummy!
This food looks incredibly delicious, but I have a question. As demographics change in Scandinavia and Sharia Law is eventually implemented then this food will not be permitted anymore. We better eat it now! Isn't that bacon? I'm just asking!
if you love food please follow me.....
baal is tasty than this
is that an onion ring on top in the first pic? good lookin grub!
I am so like Trina's mom - I would definitely be the one to trip into a room or fall down some stairs.....I'm glad she didn't hurt herself too!!
The floating human statue is interesting....I'd probably walk into it....hehe
Both the burger and sandwich look amazing.....yummo!
