Foodie For Life #7 Mee Ton Poe 🍜 - Traditional South East Asian Food

As I am in Phuket I figured to get closer to the local food as I don't visit home very often. I am here at this great place to get a typical taste of Phuket. Mee Ton Poe is a noodle place opened over 60 years and 3 generations. It is located by the Surin traffic circle in Phuket Town.

The shop is famous for its signature dish – stir-fried Hokkien meeconsumed by local folks since 1946.

Hokkien noodles are believed to have arrived with the early Chinese immigrants who settled around Southeast Asia.

The thick yellow fried noodles with seafood, pork and vegetables. They served with a half-cooked egg on top. The restaurant can be very busy at midday.

We ordered a plate of Pork Satay to go along with it.

Pork satay is a popular street food in Thailand, where it is eaten as both a snack or main dish. Serve peanut satay sauce and some vegetables on the side.

The food are around 60 – 150 baht per plate.

We also ordered my mom's favorite dish which is Khao tang na tang They are crispy rice crackers served with a well-seasoned creamy shrimp and ground pork dipping sauce. This old-fashioned starter is a flawless.

My Favorite dish is this fusion Spicy Hokkien noddles with seafood. They adapted the taste to Tom Yum sauce with the noddle. It's very tasteful and if you like a little spice then this place is for you.

Daily from 08:00 – 20:00

Location:
On Phuket Road, facing both the Metropole Hotel and the Surin Clock Tower at the traffic circle. It’s easy to spot.
