•  Cream cheese icing.
•  German buttercream.
•  Italian buttercream.
•  Or another type of buttercream.

  

Step by step: Basket weave cake decoration

 1. Fit a pastry bag with a star, round or flat tip. Fill it with a cream of your choice. 

2. Pipe a vertical line down the side of the cake. Pipe equally spaced cross over strokes. Pipe a second down stroke and continue until the entire side of the cake is covered with the basket weave design. Garnish the top with flowers or berries. 

3. Other decorating techniques include rose swirl and petal cake decoration.
