A Scrumptious Dinner at Vikings Luxury Buffet
Here in the Philippines, the one who is having a birthday is expected to treat everyone with savory meals in celebration of his Natal day. Shouldn’t the birthday celebrant be the one to be treated? Well, I won’t complain (unless it’s my birthday).
Most celebrants hold such occasion at home with those festive banquets, but there are some who prefer to dine out for they find it more convenient and more practical. Of course, a buffet is one of the best selections for dining out since there are variety of cuisines to choose from. If you’re from Cebu, Philippines, Vikings is a good diner to consider.
Vikings Buffet offers more or less four hundred dishes, ranging from Asian, European, to American cuisines.
It is my first time to experience Vikings’ luxury buffet, and it is all because of @jcvertucio’s two to the power of three added to the square root of sixty four th birthday! Yes, you got it right (?), it’s his twenty-fourth birthday!
Since Vikings came from the idea of those mythical Vikings who once ruled the seven seas with massive ships and extravagant way of life, I expected the place’s ambiance to be incorporated with a touch of the sea interiors, but we were greeted with modern architectural designs instead. Perhaps, the Vikings have already sailed into the contemporary world and have shifted with the latest styles of diner.
In this festive place, you can find variety of cuisines from the appetizers down to the desserts. I personally tried the ones I haven’t tasted before so I ventured on Japanese, Chinese, Italian, and Korean dishes.
These are some snaps of our plates. With hundreds of dishes, it would be impossible to taste all of those but among all the delicious foods that I have tasted, these are my top picks: Tempura, Korean Siomai, Sushi, Choco Moose, Lamb, and Cheeses.
There are healthy drink selections to choose from which could give you refreshing feeling with those real citrus juices. There were still few sodas but I particularly like their milk tea with those soft Sagos. Did I mention about the unli beer? Yes there is! Unli San Miguel Beer! Kanpai mga Palahubog!
You can make your own Shabu-Shabu, Pasta, Ramen, etc. You can also top your Pizza with different variation of coatings and coverings.
Finally! The desserts! Chocolate Fondue Stations should never be absent in buffets like this. I was actually searching for the Strawberry Fondue, but I'm glad I found some dips at the Churros Station. At the other side of this Dessert Area, you can make your own halo-halo, top your Ice creams, and stuff your own crepes.
Overall, I would give Vikings a nine out of ten since it took us an hour and a half to finally take our seats. Be sure to reserve ahead of time especially during weekends. Otherwise, you have to prepare yourselves to be starved while waiting for a long line. Nevertheless, the food experience was all worth it for we became Vikings for a day.
The price may be a little bit expensive (around 800 Php or $16 per person) but it just proves the quality and service that it gives to its costumers. There are lots of variety to select that will surely make your stomach full and sated. I will definitely come back to taste those dishes that I missed. Maybe for my birthday? hehe
