When we came to Thailand, one thing was certain: the food is going to be great and Mr. Gourmet will be making a comeback!

I love Thai cuisine - the curries, the seafood, the wok dishes, the influence of tropical fruits like mango and coconut ... Thai cuisine offers so many different variations, so there is something for everybody!

We were in the mood to try out a new restaurant, and stumbled upon this one called "THAI BISTRO".
It's like its own little booth inside the food court of a shopping mall.
What immediately caught our attention was the huge ad on the side... CREPETOWN?! This sounded great!

First, we ordered some drinks.

In a tropical country like Thailand, and with the constant humidity and warm climate, it's obvious that we went for some refreshing fruit shakes - Mango, Pineapple, Strawberry and Chocolate!
We also had a fresh coconut (not pictured) which is actually one of my favorite drinks whenever it's freshly available. Coconut water doesn't only taste great, but also comes with countless health benefits!

Shrimp Burger

I've had many different variations of burgers in my life - beef patties, chicken burgers, veggie burgers and more. But have you ever had a shrimp burger ?
The patty for this burger was made out of pieces of shrimp, which were pressed together to maintain the form. This made the outside perfectly crispy, but the shrimp inside the patty remained nice and tender.
The burger was accompanied by some garlic mayonnaise, as well as some fresh veggies and a soft bun!

Deep-fried Morning Glory

Morning Glory is a type of Chinese spinach. It's a staple in southeast asian cuisine and tastes delicious!
For this specific dish, the morning glory was coated with tempura batter and then deep fried - resulting in the ultimate crispy vegetable experience!

Vegetarian Stir-Fried Noodles

Pad Thai is a traditional Thai fried noodle dish.
This was a variation of Pad Thai, featuring a vegetarian tomato sauce, and a fried egg on top.
I love recipes like these that bridge the gap between different cuisines - especially when it turns out as delicious as this!

Calamari & Fried Mushrooms

Remember the deep-fried Morning Glory?
These Calamari were made with the same tempura batter, deep-fried to absolute crispiness.
The texture was so unique that these were probably within the top 5 of best Calamari I've ever eaten!

On the right, you can see some fried oyster mushrooms.
They were freshly cut, sauteed, and then dressed with fish- and oyster sauce.
A perfect side!

Tom Kha Gai - Thai Coconut Soup

Tom Kha Gai is one of the most popular dishes in Thai cuisine.
It features some rich coconut milk, as well as the signature flavour of lemongrass and different spices.
The creaminess and flavour of the soup were exactly how it should be - a perfectly warming, comforting soup!

Last but not least: DESSERT !

Of course, we couldn't leave without dessert.
Especially if the menu had a whole section just for the different variations of Crêpes!

We went for 3 different Crepe styles: One with Nutella & Strawberries, one with Mango, and one with Brownie & Strawberries!

The Mango Crepe was an absolute delight. The sweet, yet slightly sour Mango fit perfectly well with the soft, mellow Pancake butter, sweet syrup and cream.

Chocolate and strawberries are of course always a genius combination - but if you add some brownie pieces into the mix, it gives the Crepe a whole different texture and elevates this dish to another level!

We had a delicious dinner at Thai Bistro - Which dish would you have ordered ?

We definitely had a lot to eat.. and left the restaurant stuffed and happy!

Mr. Gourmet still has a lot more culinary adventures to share so stay tuned!
