The Magic in Salted Eggs!

in #food9 years ago

Hey guys, it's definitely been awhile that I haven't been able to write anything. It maybe something to do with the recent re-fascination of Overwatch, or maybe adapting to the newly acquired reshuffled people in the workplace. I think it is more about Overwatch though, LOL.

Today is not a day that I will be talking about Overwatch. Today will be an episode of new found treats I never expected would blow me away.

Salted Eggs!!!

Today, I give you Salted Eggs! No Really, Salted eggs and how they are being incorporated into wonderful things in life, such as Potato Chips! In this case, Fish Skin and Chicken Skin!

I have been seeing Salted Egg Potato Chips, but who would've expected this to go along with FISH SKIN? And maybe even Chicken Skin? These are ingredients you that would fit in a 'No Reservations' episode by Anthony Bourdain or maybe 'Bizarre Foods' by Andrew Zimmern. But just wait until you try it, cause I swear to you; you would be devouring through packs and packs of these Magical Exploding Flavorful Goodness.

Talk about explosion of flavors. Salted Egg Yolk is like a natural MSG but may have an odor that we are not used most noticeable when we ingest a handful. The good thing is that Curry Leaves gives it the balance that it needs to allow you to devour the whole pack in one sitting. Sinful as it is, but the Crisp, the Salted Egg Yolks, the Butter and the Curry leaves combination just explodes in your mouth. Every bite tempts you to just finish the whole damned pack of Salted Egg Goodness.

The world just needs to know how awesome these are!

These 2 from Macology101, I got from Landers - Supermall here in Cebu. Costing about 220PHP each (4.40USD), these are both originally made/packed in Cebu. They also have Salted Egg Potato Chips and I believe some of them come with added flavors such as Sweet Chili and Low Salt. Well, I guess we get the chance to reduce that bit of Sin we are making.

So if you are interested, I found their website right here: http://macology101.com/

FISH SKIN CHIPS

The Fish Skin Chips are actually made with Fish Skins of the Common Parrot Fish or what is known as "Mol-Mol" here in Cebu, the crisp definitely cracks and is not of the softer crisps that is commonly observed with Chicken Skin. And yes, if you get this, I highly encourage you to shake the Pack before opening. I believe that the Parrot Fish skins are somewhat glossy to the extent that it shakes off the flavor at times, Shaking the pack does the trick in evening out the flavor. This Salted Egg Fish Skin variant also includes sliced Nori to add more flavor, and (if I am not mistaken) they used Laksa Leaves (Vietnamese Cilantro) to replace the Curry Leaves which is quite a rare find if you happen to live here.

If only I remembered to take pictures before devouring everything.

But I remembered the last one.

Singaporean Salted Egg Dory Fish Skin Chips

I initially tasted the Singaporean Variant first way back. They used DORY Fish Skins where it had a somewhat similar texture to the Chicken Skin crisp. Whatever kind of fish skin being used, they are all awesome!

The Dory Version all the way from Singapore, I still remember the giggles after the first bite.

CHICKEN SKIN CHIPS

As I am sitting here, writing the word Chicken Skin, imagining the crisp, the sin, the mouth-watering piece of chicken skin in my mouth, my neck feels the burning sensation much like the increase in Blood Pressure. And what a better way to indulge in the Sin of eating Chicken Skin than to smother it with Salted Egg sauce. I know deep inside you want a piece. I know you do.. I really know you do..

Conclusion

The both of them? Simply amazing. What more can I say. What would go wrong with Salted Egg and Deep Fried stuff for a snack? There's so much that could go wrong, but I am sure we can forgive a little Sin that goes along with them. The taste is simply divine. Will I get/buy some more even at that price? Well this has been the 3rd time we have bought at 3 separate occasions. That should tell you how much we have been enjoying this snack.

So I definitely apologize for having introduced this very very sinful snack. But it is a must if I want to share the pleasures I enjoy in my life. I hope that you enjoyed this little review of both of these simple pleasures, if you did, please do give me an upvote and maybe even leave me a comment in the comment section below.

If you are up for more, please do follow me and stay tuned in to the next one!

For now, let me leave you here, continue to stay chill and Shote.Out!
